NOVEMBER 11th Veterans Day

Today is the day we remember all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice or served to ensure our freedoms. I was a bit disappointed earlier today when a student shrugged her soldiers and said, “Oh well.” While this alarming, I think as educators we should all take a moment to reflect and remind our students what military service involves, regardless of your stance as a hawk, dove or neutral party.

Computer Apps-Please continue with your Alice exercises. We move on to you programming a game of your design at the latter part of this week and next week. Programming is not just creating things, but its also incremental problem solving that involves spatial awareness, multiple intelligences and creativity. Parts of this program can be frustrating, but I think if you engage with the program, the small victories are refreshing.

Personal Finance-Grapes of Wrath Assignment due today! Your daily investor term is:

 political risk

The risk of loss when investing in a given country caused by changes in a country’s political structure or policies, such as tax laws, tariffs, expropriation of assets, or restriction in repatriation of profits. For example, a company may suffer from such loss in the case of expropriation or tightened foreign exchange repatriation rules, or from increased credit risk if the government changes policies to make it difficult for the company to pay creditors

Given the recent political changes in this country, tell me in a one page, double spaced essay how political risk could potentially affect the stock market. Will it be a bull or bear market? I know I am asking you to predict the future. Do you think that increased credit risk will continue to be the overriding concern? Also consider the case of Circuit City when writing your essay.
